I'm interested in a practical runnabout and V40 with the 1.8 GDI engine seems like a good plan -
Are there any sites I can read about the specs and discuss the models?
Cheers,
Jon

Even the T4 is pretty poor IMHO - good enough on the motorway, but the chassis can't handle the power - had a very scary torque-steer moment overtaking on a damp road, nearly veered into the ditch on the far side of the road.
In my Scooby the extra power seems to add to the control over the car, in the Volvo it works the other way..
Oh and I tended to catch the tip of my right shoe on the trim beneath the steering column when trying to come of the accelerator - doesn't help!

Ian, you're right, I had a T4 for a couple of years (hence the username) and the thing that got me was the camber-steer, it could be pretty hairy at times, and the TCS didn't really help. Especially trying to exit wet roundabouts at speed ...
Was a very quick A-road car though (with a couple of minor tweaks to wastegate actuator & dump valve hose, lag was virtually zero), and very comfortable for long journeys (below average suspension but great seats)
