Right guyz - my dad has an R plate Ford Escort and has smacked the drivers side mirror. He has sourced a replacement ( the whole assembly) is ready to fit but is a little unsure how it secures from the inside ??

He says there is a black back panel that he is sure has to be removed - but there doesnt appear to be any way to do so...?

Has anyone changed one ? If so can u please give me some tips

Cheers in advance

The black panel should pull of and theres either 2 screws or 2 bolts holding it in, just undo them and fit then do back up again..Hey presto new mirror fitted

The only DIY repair job i did on my old Escort was to fit a wing mirror from a scrapyard - after the original one got smashed on a pedestrian

Really simple job as said in the other post.
