Question

Hello everyone,
I come from Essex and one of my freinds is seriously looking into getting a mazda rx7 type r now being a twin rotary engine it is quite a specialist car and servicing could be a problem.
Would anyone know of anywhere in the south east that deals with RX7's?

www.neweraimports.com
Amongst owners and potential buyers, considered the best.
They are in Canterbury, and have a buyer in Japan who owns one, its who ive gotten mine through after a lot of research.

Yup,

MOst Mazda dealerships will happily work on one.... There is a garage in Southend who will service them (they import them as well). It is the Seat / Subaru dealership on London Road (cant remember name.

Hope this helps

There are also two other sources of information that he can use.

WWW.MazdaRotaryClub.com and a Yahoo group called FDUKBuyers.

Untill you get into engine work I don't see why an ordinary garage would have problems, my mate has one... he used to race one and I've never struggled with anything on it!

Ordinary jobs/servicing is just like any other car, I think I'd struggle to rebuild an engine but then I've never worked inside a wankel.

Good luck, they're a cracking car

Just remember that the 13B rotary engine in all Twin Turbo RX7's will need a full rebuild at about 60K miles at a cost of about 2K!! I have owned 2, they are great fun, very quick and very costly to run!

Whoops, just reread post, newera supply, not service.
Ive had RX Motors in Dorset recommended to me for rebuilds/servicing, though a few others turn up to when searching on then net.

Good source of info is a yahoo group called fdukbuyers, deals with all these sorts of questions.

Mark, it doesnt need to be all hit and miss with RX7's.
Newera are very reputable, and can source one to your exact spec/price range, and provide a years warrenty, including seals etc.
Okay, they are very heavy on petrol, but other than that, a good one shouldnt be too much headache.
A rebuild at 60-70k miles at £2k is quite a bit, but it means a reliable engine for anout 60-70k miles, so not too bad value really.

Dont give up on them yet, look a lot better than scoobs, and are about ten times as rare.
Type-R is nice though, but IMHO, dont look that special, getting into an RX7 feels special (only done it once thou ), it feels like a proper supercar.
