Much as I am bored with the Golf and want a new scoob pretty soon, I was previously keen on the Integra. Its cheap to keep, run and insure etc and cheaper to buy a good one.

It'll take quite a bit to persuade me not to go for the scoob. Anyone owned both to give an objective opinion of them?

Had a scoob, Evo 6 and now an DC5 ITR....

ITR is totally different driving experience... you have to take it by the scruff of the neck and thrash it and then you know what a race car is like... scoobs and evo's have the turbo grunt and torque.. ITR doesnt...

Totally different method of driving that takes a while to get used to.... cross country its never going to be as fast as the 4wd's but in real day to day driving its great and sooooo much cheaper to run......

And if your a track day kid.... you'll probably have seen Iain Litchfields Type R Racing eating scoobs and Evo's because the thing is so light ans well set up...

Drive one and see what you think.. but take it for a lengthy test drive to get used to the different style of driving !

Ta chaps,

Im thinking of a 99 model, but the principle is still the same. The new one looks very tasty, but about 9k would be nice to spend just for now. I like the Honda engines, and the interior is tasty. Would be nice to have a near racer and something that doesn't spit fuel out the back!

Sold it cos it was a second car, not getting used much, costing me a fortune (financed the lot) and the Dog wouldn't have fitted .

Wife no longer working (quality of life reasons ) so couldn't justify keeping it .

Would still have it otherwise

Nothing ever went wrong or fell off, no squeaks or rattles (very stiff shell) good MPG overall, cheapish for me to insure (full NCB) cheap to service and faster than a standard bugeye over 60 mph

Being black was a barsteward to keep clean, but the anthracite alloys and black Recaro's were more subtle to live with.

AS a quick summary, I suppose it would be fair to say that the Scoob has the feel of a rally car for the road and the 'teg has the feel of a race car for the road. They are VERY different in that respect.

Except the 'Teg is closer to the race car concept than the scoob is to the rally car concept. I suspect it would be far easier to convert a teg for saloon car racing than a road going scoob to be a rally car.

To add to my earlier posts, the 'Teg has better brakes and better chassis balance. It was ultimately quicker (in the dry) cross country than the Scoob, but not by much. In the wet..LOL...wheelspin in third when the valve timing switched

And with the lsd, that meant both wheels...

Great fun and you could drive around it. Grip in the wet was fine, just had to watch the traction under power. But that was the only fault, and I was running OE tyres.

D

ps - quick note for all those who may misinterpret this

I am NOT trying to say a Scoob is a road going rally car, ok? I know its a performance saloon on which a rally car has been based. My point is in concept
