Audi S3 or Sti5 V-Limited

Veracocha, you forgot you are only allowed to compare standard models of other cars on here to modified or Jap Import Imprezas, not the other way around.
That is because its OK to modify Imprezas because they are supposed to be, whereas with other cars its cheating and the chassis won't be able to take it. Probably.

Seen both these cars, similar purchase price, although one is going to be a shed load more to run/insure than the other
Plus am I likey to be spending wads of cash each month buying exhausts, gauges, ECU's etc for an Audi..
I'm still to drive either car, I must say on looks and interior alone the Audi is winning at the moment
Anyone on here got an S3?

I driven both, and despite having left the Scooby fold in favour of the 'German' marques, I would go STi.
The S3 is a nice car, but no-where near as quick as an STi and the money that you would spend getting it as quick/powerful would take the STi to well over 300bhp AND improve the brakes/handling. The S3 is very well build and rattle free compared to the STi (and having been converted by Germanic build quality and solidity I know that can be a great pull) but the S3 is (IMO) bland. Steering feel is almost non-existant, there is no real sensation of speed until you are in license losing territory, plus at the end of the day, it is 'just' a hot hatch...a £25k Hot Hatch.
The newer version (last 6 months or so) is supposed to have addressed some of the issues, but only very slightly, and for the price one of those will cost you, you could have 2 STiVs

Crisis over
Test drove a 225bhp S3 lunchtime.
Dull as dishwater
IMO anyway, very nice to look at and inside perfect. No exciting kick when floored like my scoob gave me
Sti it is then I reckon

Drove a mates S3, performance was certainly no better than my standard MY02 WRX was at the time. Wouldn't get near me now I've got the exhaust on. And I wouldn't get near an STi yet, though I'm working on it . S3s are nice, refined, full of toys, solidly built etc, but IMHO are really rivals to BMW 330 not the scoob.

All you need to do is chip an S3 and you have a car that will match an Sti-7 in a straight line.
I wouldn't say the S3 is dull - the power delivery is too smooth though as you don't feel the speed you are piling on!

No, just compare std with std, or modded with modded. Claiming an S3 is better than a Scooby once you 'chip it' is irrelevant, becuase if you also chip the scooby, the gap opens up...!
