Any ideas on a similar forum to this but dedicated to the Leon Cupra?
Also, anyone driven a Leon Cupra R. I've got a Golf 4Motion currently but its too bland for its own good and has very sloppy handling? Comment/thoughts on comparing the drive of the two?

I've had a test drive of the Leon Cupra R and I really liked it. A lot sharper than the normal Leon Cupra in every department, so it should kick the Golf on everything bar engine note.

Ive got Cupra R for the moment. The wife had a std Cupra earlier this year. Test drivin the 4 Motion a few times.
The R is a much better version than the std Cupra. You can feel the differences in the chassis. Its pretty taut and lays down the power even in the wet pretty well. Yes you can get the ESP light flashing You will find it a better drivers car than the 4 Motion. I would agree with the write ups in some of the mags. It is very fast and clinical and a little too remote. Could do with more power in the dry as well. Very good value though.
For me I'm getting shot when my R32 turns up. After sitting in it yesterday it seems to address all the bad points of the 4 Motion.

Can't beat them for value & as already said the forum is very useful & friendly. Like here
Personaly I'd go for the standard Cupra with leather programmable memory seats & then mod. it.

Chins - thanks for the comments, the only thing I'm slightly worried about is being used to the 4WD of the Golf (only when its wet - which recently has been a lot!!!).
Anyway, feedback is sounding good for the Cupra R so I'm going to test drive and perhaps run one for a year and see what else is then available.
Thanks for the 5th Gear heads-up, I always miss it...but not next Monday

Which 4motion have you got?
if it's a 1.8T have you thought of just chipping it?
I had a 1.8T with 150bhp as standard which was pretty underwhelming once it's got through the haldex. Now have 222bhp and 231lb ft after just a sensible rechip, which is a *lot* more fun.
All 1.8T's are different, but you should see 190bhp at worst.
May be an alternative to the cupra (and current weather is a *lot* more fun with 4wd)

Thanks Ian, but sadly its the 2.8 V6 and that's where most of the problems are.
It sounds great and has reasonable torque but nothing after 4000rpm and its way to softly sprung (and heavy up front) for any serious A or B road excitement (lots of banging from under the car as it bottoms! and twitching from the steering as it sends you all over the road if its the slightest but undulating or bumpy).
Why you need a 6 speed gear box with all that torque defeats me - setting of fast from the lights or similar can be embarassing, no sooner are you off in first than you need to change to second, third...etc looses too much time and the Saxo boy racers catch me up!!!

ah, if it's anything like the Mk3 VR6 I know where you are coming from. I test drove one and found it waaaay too soft, more a cruiser than sports model.
If you want a 1.8t with 4wd but fancy a change from the Golf, thought about an Octavia?

heh, I was the same.
Simply put, take one out on a test drive, have a play, it's strange at first but you'll get used to it.
Besides, the inverse snobbery aspect is great.
Where in the UK are you?

The vRS looks good (and 180BHP is not bad at all) but only fwd - 4wd on the 150bhp Elegance?
I'll look into the RS a little more I think - I seem to remember it came out top in a test in What Car this month or last (against the ST170 Focus and Leon Cupra (not R)
I'm in the North West - blackburn'ish
