Please buy my SE, yours for £12,500!!!!

I bought mine new in March 2000 and have had absolutely zero problems with it except the Stereo needed changing after it swallowed 6 CDs and refused to play them or give them back.

Lexus dealers are simply fantastic, servicing is surprisingly cheap (minor service between £100 - £150, major service about £250) and you get a courtesy car that will be at least an IS200 but could be an LS430 (what a great day that was!).

I've only reached 53,000 miles, but it still drives as new.

They handle very well (not Scooby but a lot of fun) they're very comfortable and very well specced for the money. The downside is they are a little gutless, but thats balanced out by the lovely sound that 6 makes and the fantastic 6 speed manual gearbox.

Try visiting Team Lexus for more info.

EDIT: The only differences between the Sport and the SE are:

tinted rear windows
small rear spoiler
chrome kickstrips and pedals
bloody awful looking 2 tone steering wheel
LSD (which it simply does not need, it takes real commitment to even get the traction control light to flicker, never mind actually get the car sliding)

Question

Folks,

What are these like then? I guess the sport version is the one to go for? Performance isn't the issue , I'm more interested in the ride, handling, toys, build quality, how many miles they can cope with (100k+), that sort of thing?
Any views very welcome.

I have been in a couple of peoples at work

very well speced out car ride is nice sporty enough to not feel to at sea and relaxed enough to be comfy on the motorways.

quite an accomplised car. Personally I dont like the dash style over usability, but thats just me others dont find it so bad.

oh and I only know of ones up to 50,000 miles but being japanese I would suspect they should be good for high milage given the right care!

the reason I ask about the milage is cos most second-handers seem to be ex-company cars and therefore loads of miles (motorway probably). Having said that they usually all have perfect service histories and any faults dealt with straight away.

might go for a play at the weekend then

Had a company one for a month.

Great car on the whole.....biggest downside is its fuel guzzling!
(Less performance than my Scooby Turbo but even thirstier!)

are they really thirstier than Scoobies?

I was hoping that I might save a bit in running costs...
what are the service intervals then?

Mine does about 28mpg with a mixture of motorway and "normal" roads.

Sevice intervals are 6000 and 12000 off the top of my head (I usually refer to the nice sticker they put on my windscreen that says "next service due at xxx"

Go on, £12,250, my final offer

6000!! that's worse than me Scooby which is every 7500.
Hmm, not too sure I'm growing to this Lexus idea.
I take it yours is the only IS 200 on the list of cars for sale one there?
Black is the colour I wanted to to tell you the truth I was after black leather.

Might still go and have a play at the weekend anyway.

I tried one of these with all the toys for the same price as a new scoob lovely to drive and i have always liked the looks
two things made me turn it down one was lack of low down power got out dragged from the lights by a very old very poxy SRI cav
two was the laughable boot space the IS300 looks much more interesting and is 3litres as standard.
