Nova vs Impreza
#1
Over 7000 people saw a 1.8-litre turbo'd Nova run away and hide from an Impreza turbot (smelt fishy) at Santa Pod a few weeks back.
Anyone know who the unfortunate in the 'prezza was? Is he/she prepared to admit it?
Just wondering how the owner feels after being lunched by a 2WD car ove 8 years old...

Who cares. My mate bought a recent Max Power and I had a flick through and some fool has spend £25k on a Nova making it bloody quick 0-100 and 1/4 mile! Why??? For that money he could have had such a nice scooby or EVO or M3, or whatever took his fancy. I just don't understand it.
I could have supercharged my Saxo and chucked out the back seats and it would have eaten Impreza's at crail and still been cheaper overall but I'd rather have a scooby!

Can't believe you admit to knowing someone who actually buys Lax Flower!
Just a case of horses for courses, I guess. Not everyone likes Scoobys or Vectras or Novas or even Saxos. On the flip side, who'd pay £45k on a 2-door Impreza? But some have.
As an aside... Having tested a supercharged Saxo round Goodwood (cost £3k for the full monte conversion) and seen the owner lap TVRs, 911s and Scoobys, I have to admit I was surprised. Still had it's back seats in though. Lots of tails between legs on that track day.
Pays your money and choose your weapon.

I suppose I can only choose how I spend my money but I know I wouldn't spend £25k on a Nova. In fact, I'd be hard pushed to justify spending that kind of mod money on any car!?!
Agree, max power isn't the best of reads. The same friend just bought a crappy Rover 214i thingy (no offense to people that have one) and he picked up a thing of Max Power stickers and said, 'think I should stick one of these on the back' Being a good mate I replied 'sure that'll look well cool'
I'm a ******* ain't I

Hay there- my first post.
The nova at santa pod was a 2.0 8v turbo with nitrous as well, so no surprise really.
I do own a nova yep (dont hold it against me- i dont slag you guys because you own scoobys) and am having a 2.0 16v turbo fitted soon.
Expected quarter mile times (based on close friends with same engine gearbox config) is expected to be in the region of 13.7 seconds quarter mile. Fast yep- but at the end of the day its a biscuit tin on wheels.
I love it to bits but its still a nova.
Looking to buy a scooby or an evo in next year or so (but still keeping the nova for fun).
I dont buy max poo(wer) but did this month coz i know the guy whos nova it is- and to be fair its pretty awesome.
What the feature neglects to mention is the sheer attention to detail and the fact that £amount has been spent over the 8 years he has owned the car.
Pretty impressive tho. Take a look for yourself.

Hey I used to own the record winning 12.6 second 5GTT. although it was only doing 13.6sec runs when I owned it. And I now drive an STI.
My 5 was fine for short bursts but anything over 1/4 mile and you took your chances on something going 'south'. I can now drive just as fast ALL the time. (although being a bigger car it does not FEEL as fast).
Im sure the Nova was quick like mine against standard and mild scoobs, but for the reasons above there is no comparison. If I modded the scoob to the same degree as the 5 id be knocking on low 11's.
Theres no comparing ANY modified car to a standard alternative. You'd be better of comparing it against the standard base vehicle.
