What do we think of Citreon Xantia's?
#1
OK, I know I'm inviting a p155 take, but it's a serious question
I've borrowed a Xantia for a few months and I'm quite impressed - well equiped, well put together (it's a >98 facelift model) and I even think it handles pretty good!
OK, so there's zero feel through the light steering, but once the initial body roll occurs going into a bend, it seem to firm up and settle nicely. The suspension does a good job of keeping the quite skinny tyres planted, and judging by the very even tyre wear across the tread makes good use of the available contact patch.
BTW, the rears have 75K miles on them and I reckon they'll do another 10K. Fronts have done about 25K but will probably another 10K as well.
OK, now I'll just sit back and wait for the jokers to comment
Cheers

I think they're a good drive ... as with too many French cars though, they're a bit under-engined. Very smooth and I would think a good motorway car.
Would like to have a crack in an Activa ...

Yeah, drove the activa some time back, could be a quite a stealth bomber, had a 2.1 turbo if I recall, nice drive, "rapid" over a large distance but not really involving, and you never quite knew where the limits of grip were.
Not "enthusiast" enough for my liking, but a good car on the whole.

A great car, turbo diesel the one to buy ,self adjuster on clutch can snap/break,handbrake cable a pain to do ,suspension spheres may need recharging or even more expensive replacing ,new clutch is a big job, there are a lot of independant specialists for spares /repairs to keep the costs down. You can pick them up cheap and are a good tow vehicle.

i have a xantIt finaly gave up the chace after a good run, dude the price on repair of these things is silly, and you have to have hydrolic bits checked, saying that, it is a nice car, well build but drives like a buss.
nice and comfy
Expensive to repair (cheeper to fix my scooby than the xant)
