Got my first ever edition of evo mag last week (home in UK, they don't sell it out here) and I notice that in one of the back issues they tested, or compared, or at least drove, an Alpina B3.
Can anyone find the issue and give me a summary pleeeeaze? I'm interested in retail price, handling, and value for money; not interested in straight-line speed. I've got the Alpina website for the official stats, so don't need them.
Cheers

Think I've got that at home, will have a gander. They tested the 3 main BMW 'tuners', though not strictly one against the other as they each did a different version, e30, e36 etc
Are you trying to work out if it's better than current M3? Cos it isn;t...

Thanks chuckster.
I'm well aware that the M3 forces all to bow down before it, but unfortunately BMW don't release it with a Touring body! I'd be curious to hear about the Haartge as well.
Other problem is, I understand the M3 is for expert drivers - so I discount myself from ownership pretty quickly!

I seem to remember them saying something like " this car is good so the new M3 will have to be bloody good when released". I think they liked it.
Dogmaul, I thought AC Schnitzer were more about stying these days than tunning?

Evo mag review wasn't very comprehensive. Adds 100bhp. Fabulous car, only available with switchtronic? gearchange. Considering it's a touring u are after it sounds like a good choice - also fully BMW approved of course.

Ta matey. Alpina are getting back to me about the price.
I hope switchtronic isn't that nasty semi-auto box that I tried in the 330D - supposedly a manual, but does all the gearchanging for you at the appropriate times. Yuk!
OTOH, I am managing to persuade the wife that she doesn't need a brand new 4-door shopper, so instead of big fast and small crappy car, perhaps we can get a small fast and big crappy car instead - much more my style!
Car buying - does it never end?
