BMW tyres
My two fronts are needing changing soon and I don't know wether to mix and match brands or go for the same tyres as I have on the rear?
I have Goodyear asymmetric 2's on the rear but I'm tempted to get Michelin super sports on the front in anticipation for when the rears need changing.
Both sets are within a few quid of each other but which is the best grip option?
Tyre size will be 255/30/19 if anyone knows any cheap places

Super sports have the best rep and I loved them on my MK2 RS. Both times I bought them Michelin were doing cash back £50 on 2 or £100 on 4 tyres.
That's some fat tyres for fronts - what BMW?

I wouldn't think twice about mixing and matching. There will always be the crowd who will say you will fly off the roads at the first corner and die in a big ball of flames but these people are also known as retards
I ran for over 10k miles with Bridgestone run flats on the front and Vredstein non run flats on the rear and I didn't die

I remember asking this when I was going from 17" run flat to 28" non run flat. Plumbed with the Michelin Pilot Sport 2 or 3, I forget. But I run 225/40 and 255/35.
You suggested Oponeo to me, Steve. Nothing on there?

I only said those as they are cheap and are B rated for wet braking but they don't do my size. I saw a video on Youtube showing stopping distance between an A rated tyre and a C rated tyre. After watching it I decided to stick with A rated tyres

If it's not too late, I can't recommend the Michelins.
I've just moved from a Spec D to BMW's M135i which comes with the "super grippy" Michelin Pilots supposedly designed specifically for the car and I sat at a roundabout this morning trying to accelerate relatively gently but sitting spinning my wheels.
I could have practically floored my Spec D on Goodyear F1s.
I'm so hoping it's a tyre issue....

GeeDee, on a heavier car like the 3 series coupe I personally think they're brilliant. Especially non runflat variants. It's strange how tyres can vary so massively from one marquee model to another.

If I recall the standard tyre on the M135i is "Pilot Supersports" which is a different tyre to what choc mentioned. The supersport is probably a more dry/warm orientated tyre. I personally use "Pilot Sports 3"s on my cars which are more of an all rounder IMO; The prime reason being that I want better wet grip in cooler weather.
What doesn't help is Michilen seem to stick the pilot sport logo on their other tyre models don't help...For example, some of the Primacy models have "pilot sport" stamped on the sidewall. And I sewar I've seen the same logo on Michelin Energy tyres...and I'll say this now: DO NOT USE Michelin Energy tyres on a perfomance car; Its a budget tyre and performs as such (the rubber also cracks and hardens/perishes after a few years making them even worse).
Or its more of a RWD vs AWD issue
Joking aside its why I want BMW to give us the Xdrive option on the M135i like they do in the rest of the EU.
