Default A45 Swap

Ok so as my car doesn't actually move much, i went to MB to day to ask about just handing it back, whilst there you see all the new cars and although i don't use it much i need 1 anyway after working out finances on a C-Class i thought naa not for me. i went to total opposite way and asked about a CLS

So i left today with 2 options
Hand a45 back walk away and keep all my money
swap A45 for a CLS Shooting brake with premium pack 51k car, no cost to me basically swap keys start new finance same deal as old 1 ?

Views girls

CLS old mans car i admit but its lovely inside and the toys are amazing, obviously not like the 45 but diff breed.

They're too big I think, plus I reckon you'd be bored in a very short space of time.

yeah there is that, i suppose i need to wait for him to get me a deal i want then i decide...
Thing is what excites about A45 is speed, but the amount of camera Vans etc its hard to enjoy a car now.

I might succumb to being an old man....

But you haven't had your red A45 for barely a year yet? I do like the estates, sorry I mean the 'shooting brake' but probably only worth it if you actually need a bigger car.

If you are not using it, then surely another car you dont use is a bit of a waste....... although I may be missing something here

Question about the A45

Wife is getting rid of her sports car, she wants something quick but can seat 4 comfortably. Is there room for an adult to sit in the back?

I'm with Pimmo, swap the A45 for another Merc, which you also won't use much? Don't get it, unless there's something you don't like about the A45?

Personally, I dont think you would drive the CLS much more, I would have thought the A45 was more "driveable"... Only thing I would suggest is something simpler, cheaper and more fun to make it an event when you do drive the car.

If the primary reason you're getting rid of the A45 is lack of use then it's pointless getting another car of any kind to replace it.
If you're getting rid because of speed, then replacing it with £51k CLS you'll still get caught speeding cause it'll do a great job of hiding what speed you're actually doing in your old man'mobile as you waft along at 90mph in complete comfort..

ok the votes in, he's matched my A45 monthly and no cost to me to swap it. but I'm gonna decline..

What I'm going to do is ring around dealers and get part ex against something a little less ME..something that halves my payments so a sub 20K car..

So far I've looked at

New Corsa VXR
Clio 220 Nav
megane is too much
VW Golfs are too much

Ill keep you updated....

I wondered about a trade down when I retire next month. Best way to minimise costs as far as I can tell for modest mileage is a car that has depreciated already but reliable or that has had the known weak spots dealt with. Bonus is something interesting that won't push you back towards expensive motors.

I did look at that john, at present I'm only entertaining deals of interest free and below 5%
I don't want to throw a deposit or cash at it as the spare cash I have she wants bathroom and kitchen.... So the cars in that list top out at around 350 a month with nil deposit which is fine...

I've just had wife look and she actually likes the Corsa VXR and that is around 280 if I add full leather it'll be 300 ish...

Focus St3 is other contender off to see ford in the morning to discuss....

Perhaps something a bit 'leftfield'... Mazda 3 MPS? (Do they still make it, BTW?!).

I like the more 'overlooked' choices ...

Apparently the MPS's chassis lacks the ultimate finesse of the best out there. But it has a stonking 256bhp turbo engine. With effortless torque between 2 to 4k rpm.

Plus, in my dotage lol, these days I'm rather taken with its (relative), understated 'cooking' styling.

But hey, I'm not the OP.

You can still lease a Golf R for less than £250 a month.

Hondas too much outside my budget
Don't want lease as thats also outside it, if i get anything worthy, Golf R deals look ok but once you've added initial upfront its over the 300 golden number.

Fiesta as always fords discounts were crap 323 a month, but i,ll give it ford Fiesta was nice
VXR corsa 299 a month or 164 on lease .... but id look weird in it.

Just been to see Fiat, and it was lovly very nippy for a roller-skate half brown leather grey with black wheels...

Lets see what happens....

I had the new fiesta st kept it 4 weeks before it got sold on !!!!!
Yes very good performance but the ride is so bloody hard, ok yes i could change the springs and shocks but you shouldn't have to spend out on a new car.
I also found it to be very twitchy seem to be over sensitive inho.

So I've had a better deal on the fiat this spec
595 comp 180bhp
Circuit grey
Matt black alloys
UPrated stereo and yellow brakes
Brown and black sabalt leather seats
List price is 23k LOL, after playing dealers off each other I've had 3 k knocked off, yep a lot I know 19k for a fix it again tony.

But fiesta was more a month and less full price. As residuals on Abarth are quite strong
I've kinda sacked off the vxr, sat in the new one today, seems basic and pretty poor.

Will you be using the car as a daily or is it just something for the weekend/odd drive out/etc?

Why not skip new and go for something older and FUN!
