Hi,
Yes, In 2009 I brought a Cupra K1, It had all the extras, Sunroof, Black Wheels, Auto wipers & lights, Xenons & Ipod thing. Absoloute awesome car, had a Miltex back box & Revo remap to 320bhp and it was very quick, Real head turner too.

Not overly expensive to run and service etc.. (Depending on how many miles you do in it) Very comfortable around town and on motorway then all the power on tap when required.
It did like to eat front tyres though
One thing I do remember is how good the stock brakes were !!

I used to easily get mid 30's from it without having to drive it like a 1.4.
I would say so yes, it did improve the mpg figure slightly, obviously increased power and torque but just seemed to transform the car into something even more fun.
Think it was nearer £500 all in but this was in 2009.

Echo the above comments regarding the handling, but then it is to be expected with 4 wheel drive and my Scoob had a few grad spent on the suspension over stock suspension on the Leon so not a 100% fair comparison.
The Leon was good, just not a 4 wheel drive Scoob good lol
