Default mid size AWD

So, my dads planning on buying a brand new car when he retires. He's after a mid size 4x4 type thing, he likes the look of the XV but im after possible make/model sugestions. His requirements,

1. AWD
2. Petrol
3. decetn interior size

So far looked at XV, Q3, Q5, mokka. Any other sugestions?

We also looked at Juke, which is too small and nissan qashqai but thats not awd in petrol.

The Mazda CX5 is worth a look. Decent styling, low running costs, great reviews.
Or the new Outback?

It did when I last looked 1.8 TSi 4x4 unless they've dropped it.
Same with the Mazda.
