Are you sure you want a Targa? Least driver-oriented version, and I (personally) don't like that slab of glass rearward of the C-pillar (or is it a B-pillar?). Fortunately they appear to be cheaper than the equivalent Coupé.

Mate of mine ran a standard mid-80s 911SC for a while, it had 105K on it when he got it. I remember the watchwords (apart from usual performance car consumables like brakes etc) were:
- stainless heat exchanger / exhaust. They rot through quickly, so if you don't have recent bill for one, budget for it (around £800 fitted)
- I think the camchain tensioner needs checking -- it's part of a regular service so look for a big history file with receipts.
Bodies are galvanised so if there's any rust showing it's been crashed & repaired.

Dont buy a targa roofs are noisy and leak ,what you want is a very low mileage 1985 3.2 carrera coupe , and I just might know where there is one for sale !!! e-mail this guy if u r interested rallycol@yahoo.co.uk
