Just read the thread about the elderly lady who wanted to protect her home, then had a browse through BBC News and came across this

Basically, the wife of Philip Lawrence, the murdered head teacher, has been asked to apologise to the guy who murdered him, after she criticised him for showing no remorse.

A good example of how outrageous this country's legal system is is a friend of mine was beaten senseless by her seperated husband and all he got was 12 months suspended sentence, 80 hours community service working in a charity shop and had to pay her £250 compesation. Funnily enough he was laughing his head off when he left court so I heard, not surprised really cos as far as i'm concerned he should have got at least 5 years doing time. Yet if someone steals a mobile phone they get 2 years in prison or you get caught doing over 130 on a motorbike and get 12 months in prison. [img]images/smilies/mad.gif[/img]
Another one is that it is cheaper not to have insurance on a car and if you get caught you get some minimal fine!
I have insurance to protect me and other people yet scum who drive without insurance get away extremely lightly when it is a serious offence IMHO [img]images/smilies/mad.gif[/img]
And as for divorce laws and custody battles, well i will explode if I get started on that one so I wil stop now! [img]images/smilies/mad.gif[/img]

Well the advice I got from the Police when I rang them on behalf a female friend who had been raped by her x-boyfriend, was that she'd probably be better off leaving it as its her word against his, and they added - she'll forget about it in time.. I think we should hang the SCUM
if it has been proved beyond "reasonable doubt" that the scum did it or they own up to it or were caught in the act we should be able to hang the *******, I don’t want to hear all this political correctness crap(as it don’t wash with me)if they’ve done it, hang them that's all they deserved they didn't worry when they took someone else life.
Then it would be another waste of space off the planet.
And I don't want to hear all this PC crap we should stick together

It's a poor do when criminals get an easier ride than the rest of us, thing that scares me is defence lawyers must actually think they're doing right, for the good of the nation?
