There is a screw value looking thing under the boiler?

edit:

That's not it, that just lets water into the boiler.

Doesn't seem to work like that, will only turn to the right and let more water in, I can hear and feel the water flow as I turn it.

Nothing else there to turn ??

The flat head valve things we have let water through when the slot is in line with the pipe and cut off water when at 90 degrees.

Is there an outside stop **** next to the water meter?

Turn off the cold water infeed to the house and put the hot water taps on and eventually the flow will stop.
I'm guessing you have a cold water tank in the loft or somewhere.

In my house i can turn the hot off but not the cold to the tanks in the loft. When i was replacing the shower i had to turn the mains off and drain the system. Huge waste of water but needs must. Nice power shower now.

Could be the water is leaking out of the dump valve via the fake roof vent, in my professional opinion of course...!

Very sorry, I'm also nowhere near you. Joking apart, if you are struggling, it would be much better to employ a local chap to sort it out.

If you have a look on the CIPHE website, there should be one of my fellow members near you. They might not be the cheapest, but they'll know what they're doing and you do have some proper redress if you're not happy.
