I think I went with the CooP when I wanted a quick 1 week cover for most of Europe. I think it cost about £40-£50 ish...

EDIT. sorry, just re-read you email and see that you are looking for a years cover. I got mine through M&S as part of their insurance. I'm not sure if they do it separately but I found they were the best overall. Alternativly if you wanted just a short cover you could try the Co-Op. They were actually £26 for a 6 to 10 day trip.

That's strange because they usually bring you back for major faults like gearbox or engine provided the value of the car is above £2k.

I think you need to get the top level of cover though and it aint 58 quid.

Also be careful as some policies wont come into effect immediately to avoid fraudsters who have already broken down and trying to get cover to get the car home, so check it will start when you leave home.

Have you tried ADAC, the German version of AA/RAC? I've heard a lot of good things about them from people who travel to the 'ring a lot.
