Default Identify This Dog Breed?

Can anyone help identify this dog breed please? Fairly sure it's a Vizsla, but I'm sure there's a few more expert eyes out there

Could be a Vizsla or maybe a Weimaraner? They look pretty similar, no expert though

I would say Viszla, too red to be a Weimaraner. No ridge and nose is too light coloured for a Ridgeback

I am happy to confirm that is 100% Visla.
Wonderful hound but they like human company so not ideal if you leave them alone all day.
When I get time/ retire/sacked/ work locally I will definately be getting another!
any other info just ask!

That was my thinking, in hindsight we should have asked the owners, but they were snoozing on the bench beside the dog.

In the flesh, her nose was much more pink in colour. Beautiful dog, sat there quietly and well behaved. We were in the Cotswolds, so she must have just had a long walk

Really nice dogs almost got one a while back but circumstances changed and had to back out of the deal.

If your after a nice one Gunfield vizlas have some excellent lines, but there is usually a waiting list.

Is this one? A builder we know who buys chickens off us occasionally brings him round in his truck. He told me the breed but I forgot. The dog is bloody bonkers though

Hungarian Vizsla's are great dogs..

Similar to GSP and Weimeraner in temperament and character...

Very active and super nosey.....You wont get much quiet time of you buy one..

Great dogs and very loyal.
I had one for 14 years, but unfortunately he died at home last week which I'm still gutted about.
It's still a bit soon, but I've had to put my name on a waiting list for another Vizsla, hopefully to arrive mid 2014.
I'm using Gunfield Vizsla as they are really developing the breed in a positive way, using Hungarian dogs instead of in breeding.

Truly sorry to hear your sad news Billyray, the Visla is a breed that craves human contact and you can’t help but be affected by them. I’m sure Gunfield are decent breeders. For anyone else out there considering getting one make sure they are affiliated to the breed society code (don’t breed the Bitches before 2 and stop after 5 years) and you will never want for another breed!

Thanks very much for your kind words-appreciated.I totally agree with your comments about the breed.
Regarding Gunfield,I've been following them for a while and a relative has one of their dogs.It does feel strange having to make these arrangements after such a short period, but I don't want to miss out on the right dog in the future and the waiting lists are rightly long and the process quite stringent

Yes, it is hungarian vizsla.
Weims are grey (though I've seen them from very pale grey to nearly black) and a bit bigger than Vizzy's.

I can only really speak about weims, as I've owned one and a friend of mine is / was a breeder and showed a couple of her hounds. Lovely dogs, extremely loyal and protective of their pack. VERY intelligent but do sometimes lack common sense.
VERY clingy too, and will shadow their owner wherever they go. Don't expect to go to the toilet on your own, unless you want something whimpering outside the door, and probably trying to get through the door to you!

I think that Vizzy's are somewhat similar in most respects, regardless, they are great dogs, good for families. Look for a good reputable breeder (http://www.silvestre-gundogs.com/homepage.htm is one that springs to mind, they breed Weims and Vizzy's)

We said goodbye to our lovely black lab last year, and it's time for a new hound to complete the family. A lab is very high on the list, but Vizzy's are there too, along with a Weim (would love a little female Weim I could name Maggie), GSP, and DTR.
