That's fine, was just letting people know that there is bargain available. Though, having said that, I've never come across or even heard of an engine failure resulting from using oil that met the car manufacturer's requirements.

Strange to think that manufacturers recommend using 'long life' oils with extended service intervals. Surely you'd want them to have more frequent services and oil changes. My motor's service interval is 12k miles or 2 years, I do low miles, 3-6k a year, but I change the oil every year regardless.

i have a feeling its to attract new customers, ill re-phrase TIGHT customers, like EVO's with theyre servicing costs would scare alot who wouldn't think about it, even thou its normal lol, i change my oil frequently myself, but as usual alot of people would rather not service it because it costs more money lol

I believe long life oil and 20,000 mile service intervals are to attract fleet buyers who want to keep their servicing costs down and don't care what state the engine is in when they sell them on after three years.

Plus the less frequently some monkey at the main dealer services your car the less chance of it being ****ed up.

I heard also you can change an oil too often 'cos fresh oil gives off lots of volatiles until it is run in. These volatiles coat the intake via the PCV, dirty everything up basically, give off more emissions, contribute to knock.
