As a Liverpool fan I've been able to watch Anelka's football quite closely. I honestly feel quite sorry for the guy, IMO he wouldn't have been a bad signing.
BUT I trust Houllier 100% - if he thinks the signing isn't right for Liverpool, then the signing isn't right for Liverpool.
I have a feeling that he has a card up his sleeve - I'm hoping that it's Cisse who will be worth £30m+ within 12 months.

The point about Keegan being a good manager - don't make me laugh!
He's only ever done well when he's got lots of money to spend on new players as was the case with Newcastle, Fulham and now Man City. He's a nice fella, but IMHO not that good a manager (backed up by the fac that he was a complete failure with England).
