Buying a carpet. Advice please.
What sort of price are we looking at for a wool carpet. I have been quoted £30/ metre all inclusive. It's for a bedroom and box room/ home office.
Any thoughts.

Sounds a lot. We just had our living room done and it was around £15 / m2 but that was for a deep pile fully synthetic (polypropylene) carpet. The fact it was bleach cleanable was the main draw for us with two kids likely to spill allsorts on it. Underlay, grippers, etc. was extra.

What about joining. The box room i can get a cheap offcut for £90, but it will need a join.

Wool carries every disavantage that you can think of when it comes to carpet.
Hard to clean, can shrink when deep cleaned, the pile "lies down" on the areas of footfall, it fades, it is not resistent to chemicals or spillages etc etc.
At £30 per m2 you will be looking at wool blend carpets.
Man-made fibre carpets have improved greatly over the last decade, and have none of the characteristics described above. Buying a dense man made fibre carpet looks as good as a wool carpet, but without the drawbacks, put down with a good quality underlay it is a top job it is neither cheap on the wallet nor does it look cheap. Only carpet in my house is one the stairs, it is down 3 years and still looks great.
