Default DVLA rant

I'm still waiting for my new logbook for the M3 from dvla so I can transfer my plate from my scooby before I sell it. I bought the car 11th November and I rang them today......theyve not even had it**So now, I have to download 2 forms, take all my docs to the local office in Chester and.........wait ANOTHER 4 to 6 weeks ffs. If my scoob sells in that time I'm screwed!!!!!!!! So bloody annoying.

You are unlucky,I have always had very quick service from DVLA. Hope they get it sorted anyway.

Ummm.. Chester DVLA. Had to go there a few years ago as the car I bought from a Subaru Dealership had a 'Disabled' Tax Disc, and to get it renewed and changed at the time I had to visit a DVLA office, and Chester was my closest one. Bit daunting at first as it was a take a ticket and you see an advisor when your number was called. Make sure you put enough money in the car praking metre. I think I had to wait 2 hours

Dvla are generally quick with change of ownership average time of 2-3 weeks, maybe the previous owner hasn't sent off yet?

I sold one of my cars last month. Sent the V5 to the DVLA within a couple of days. A week later I get a letter from the DVLA saying that someone had applied for ownership of the vehicle since I'd failed to tell them of the sale and if I didn't respond they'd issue them a V5.

After calling them (waste of time) I wrote back saying that I had sent the V5, but they probably hadn't processed it yet since it was so recent. A week or so later I get a letter confirming I'd sold the car.

2 weeks later I get a demanding Failure To Notify Change Of Ownership letter from the DVLA . . . but not for my cars registration, for the new owners personal plate Over zealous new owner, dim DVLA staff or crap DVLA computer system?

Had dvla saying they would fine me X amount as I didn't notify them of a car I sold, but if I paid within 14 days they'd reduce my fine!
I wrote back saying I had proof I sent the form off and I won't be paying them a penny so take me to court.
Heard nothing for 3 months then they wrote again saying no further action would be taken!
