wood can have some amzing properties re strength and general resistance to stress/shear/stretch etc

mother nature knows quite alot about building superior products to man made stuff

does not sound that stupid to me, I would not be so quick to call him an idiot as the posters on PH

Agreed it might not be the normal way of doint things but if used correctly wood is very strong, and think about the weight saved over using metal

That bad boy clio has obviously upset some scoobies in the twisties, with the advantage of the wooden strut brace handling.

Seems crazy. BUT. What if it actually works? Morgan still use wood frames don't they? The hi-fi world worships wood because of its absorbent properties. What if this guy is actually onto something? You never know!

High end modern windsurfers have started using more wood

http://www.star-board.com/2013/products/technology.php

" A sheet of 0.6 mm Australian plantation pine wood forms the full outer shell of the board. Wood's unique properties are its natural rigidity, superior resistance to compression and higher energy absorption compared to carbon."

And balsa wood has been used in surfboards and windsurfer for years (in stringers) as no other product is a light and as stiff
