I'd recommend skipping it til 60 seconds, then wow! Picking the apple up was very good.

This was of a time when performers had to be just that... performers. Movies couldn't rely on CGI and special effects and stage shows were still huge so the stars of this sort of movie had to be able to dance, sing and act.

I think back then the acting was poor, corny, very fake.

We have some fantastic actors now and to say they aren't as good because of the likes of CGI, no I don't agree.

I didn't. I said this sort of movie relied on the performers moreso than it might today. In addition to that back then these sort of films were fashionable due to music hall, cabaret and the likes still being prevalent, they wouldn't cut it today without modern movie making techniques e.g. Moulin Rouge.

The point was that if you wanted to make seqeunce like that the people had to be able to actually do it, today you could use CGI to an extent if you so chose.

And yes in many ways the acting was corny by modern standards, but don't forget it wasn't that long before that movie was made that all films were silent! Audiences had a different level of expectation compared to today!

It's probably too sophisticated for me, but to be fair when you look at some of the stunts done today, they blow away any attempted back then.

I'm not putting down the acts of yesteryear, they created the world of cinema.
