Default So, as 2012 draws to a close, how was your year? What's planned for 2013?

As thread title really.

I've always tried to go into the next year with a positive mindset - it's worked in the past, but after having a few really bad years, I approached 2012 with some modicum of resignation.

Almost "bracing" for impact

And on assessment so far, with more good things happening than bad, I have to admit that 2012 has turned out pretty well so far.

I ticked a few things off my bucket list - mixing at Peter Gabriel's Real World studio was amazing.
Realised a boyhood dream with the acquisition of my Porsche.
Did some fantastic gigs with my band.
Celebrated both 20 years of knowing my wife, and then marking our 15th Wedding Anniversary with a great party. The band also played that night too.
Sadly, the day after, our drummer unexpectedly died of a heart attack, that pretty much knocked us for six.
It put a lot of things into perspective, and whilst the emotions were fresh, put in place some changes to my life (we all say that things will change after the death of a loved one, but as time passes, usually these tend to be put on the back-burner)
My 2 kids have never ceased to amaze me with how they're growing up to be people I'm highly proud of - a feeling I never want to get used to tbh.
Began playing football.
Recorded and mixed the band's album (nearly finished!)
Got re-acquainted with a great many old school friends which has been great. Friendships have developed again too.

2013 will hopefully be a development of 2012 -
bigger/better things with band
Some new studio toys
First holiday abroad since 2007 (!)
Get my L7 in Strategic Management
Write some more music and get in on the radio again.
Get fitter!

So, all in all, not bad - I apologise if this sounds rather "gushy", but it's only in reflection that you assess how the year's gone. And personally, I'm proud of the accomplishments I've had this year

I can't be the only one though!
How about you lot? How's your 2012 been? What have you got planned in 2013?

Dan

I'll get in before the doom and gloom brigade. 2012 was what it was - loved somed of it and hated other bits and I dare say 2013 will bring a mix of the same - bring it on

2013 for me is the last year or debt... Dec next year and it frees up £1500 a month. So head down and continue to resist buying everything insight. Then it's a new kitchen, mdriveway guttering, patio and hopefully I can finally get another Subaru.

Getting fitter, I really need to shift some pounds either that my scales are telling me lies ;-)

Buying somewhere in Spain is 2013's goal it is something I wanted to do for many a year now and have nearly done so in the past (but then things happened).

2012 has been pretty good too, done some new stuff and long may it continue.

I'll get the gloomy bit out of the way first, 2012 was totally ****, the worst year of my life.

I am a glass half full man, I have some positives to go forward with.

1, At 62, I am still alive, active mind but body is now suffering the effects of years of physical activity so will be keeping my mind very busy.
2, I still have my own business in a business centre despite efforts to ruin it by other parties in 2012.
3, I have a comfortable place to live with a panoramic view, my 'penthouse'.
4, I have a superb multi-monitor PC for business and pleasure use.
5, I am debt free since selling my house.
6, I am back on Scoobynet after many years of denial.

Bring on 2013

Well 2012 has been a **** year, lost everything that literally meant anything to me.

2013 is gonna be a year of action, I'm in a job that I enjoy and other employers are currently making the right noises, so I'm going to focus on earning some good money and getting debt free.

I say it every year but by the middle of this year I'll have 5years NCB (fingers crossed) and I'll finally get my first Impreza/Legacy.

Healthy body, healthy mind in the will be the inspiration behind next year. I've also started to mend some fences with my family over Christmas and spoke to my Dad for the first time in 12years, so I hope to make more time to spend with him and catch up.

2012 has kindof trundled by, happy-ish ending with getting decent acess to my daughter - but at the same time there are events already in the making for 2013 that will disrupt that again, but fingers crossed a fair result is concluded. closed knit family life has been my rock for the past year, couldnt be more grateful for the partner i have - makes me cringe when so many family units fall apart due to lack of tolerance for one another.

aims for 2013, maybe do a bit more at work, gain some qualifications, be more pro-active where i can. must increase on my health status as a priority, and to continue to enjoy time with my kids, and now there reaching an age where i can impart some good knowledge and wordly advice - bring out there interests and show them more of whats available in life. - (spelling they can pick in school lol)

and finally spend more time with elder members of my family before its too late,

and if the oppertunity arises id like to do some kind of volunteer work, get involved in outdoor nature projects and get the kids involved - or something along those lines.

better dust off my trainers, a lot on lol

2012 had its good points and its bad points

i was promoted to supervisor at work back in march which enabled me to get the scooby.

i stopped smoking after 17 years back in august and havent touched 1 since.

i have a few demons im battling at the minute,i wont go into detail as its quite personnel but i have very low confidence in myself and its really started to make me unhappy

i think in 2013 i would like to get back in the gym as i have put on about a tonne since quitting smoking and i feel really really ****ing fat,im a big lad anyway but it wont hurt to lose a few pounds/metric tonnes

i want to start building my confidence up,its not like i cant talk to people or anything like that its more confidence in tasks i lack,i just dont seem to have the courage to do things like service my car etc etc and i really want to learn a bit.

a year ago we moved into a big house with a massive garden buts its like a jungle so i might put my energy into that but try to keep costs down as its only rented property,it has 2 ponds,2 sheds,a green house, veggie patch, rhubarb plant, bay leaf tree, apple tree, huge grape vine in the green house so i think i could get it looking quite nice for summer but the main problem is work,it can take over my life as most weeks i work 60-70+hours a week over 6 days so by the time weekend comes im knackered. maybe a scoobynet gardening day at my house is needed with a bbq at the end of the day and get it all done in 1 day

my self esteem is at an all time low and enough is enough

2012 has been a great year, I've got myself into a half decent job and have sorted myself out financially as I'm struggling much less. Another plus point was getting rid of the mistake I made in buying my last Impreza and buying a mint Evo but most importantly I've set a date for my wedding and am currently saving every penny I can to give my bride to be the day she deserves

2012
Got my promotion to chairman of finance for my local town council And got third highest votes in the elections too
Next stop Mayor

Got my four certificates on my studies for a diploma for my "board job "

My normal day job continues to pay well

Had a great NBO 10 (wow 10 years has gone so fast )

Wife looks as fit as ever as she passed the 50 mark
And a great holiday for a month in Australia to see the boy who lives there now

My Health continues to cause me problems though and I would swap all of my wealth if I could be free of aches and pains like I was a year ago so a year can change so much and can be a downer in a pretty good year

2013
Concentrating on my part time jobs which I enjoy
Looking forward to a holiday in phillipines again as the Warmer climate helps me
Continue spending on the scoobies
And just hope I am still healthy and survive another year with 3 years to early retirement so I can have a stress free life and just wish it was a bit warmer

My 2012 started very shakey due to ill health of a dearest relative. I can't thank some people enough for being there, even when they have no idea that they were actually there for me, and what I was going through. Thankfully it all got better slowly and the year glided by. Nothing too high, nothing too low, it just kind of passed. One grave unfinished business came to close, thank God- it was doing my bleddy head in. I lost one lovely, elderly person who I felt had genuine affection and regard as a human for me. She will live on in my thoughts. I look forward to a peaceful and happy 2013. That will do.

I plan to exercise less and rest more, unlike most. I spent much of 2012 being ill after breaking my immune system. Oops.

Month long trip in the camper planned for June. Santander ferry, see where we get to. Can't wait!

2012 pretty good

Promotion and decent rise
Eldest got 9 good gcses
Bought my 944
financially better off as wife in second year of new job, would be skint otherwise.
Lost some weight
Went to Vegas with family, then San fran etc, great holiday
Put weight back on
Not so good

My grandad is 91 and had some health issues, have left him weak and his eyesight is poor now, fel so sorry for him as he is still mentally sharp.

Youngest had a few health problems, we're very worried but docs were thorough n
And no nasties came up

Fell out with the in laws but things back on track mostly

For 2013

Get better, more focused at work
Lose podge again, know how to do it now, actually easy.
Improve the house, get decorating done
Perhaps get a Boxster S
Get middle kid through gcses and into sixth form
Fit a log burner

This won't be positive!
2012 was utterly awful, the worst year of my life and I only have myself to blame.

I got sacked from my job.
Few months later realised that it had ended my career.
Months with £0 income.
Got into a very intense and unstable with someone who was coming off heroin.
After a weekend of drinking I fell down steps and smashed my face on the pavement.
Boyfriend disappeared and I never saw him again.
Lost all friendships.
Had to sell my apartment. My first home that I only bought in sept 2011.
Moved back in with my mum.
Gained 2stone, lost 2 1/2 stone.
I also struggle to manage depression, personality disorder, eating disorders and self harm, so the year has included stitches in A&E and people coming daily to check I'm still alive.
So yeah, good riddance to 2012.

I have no real hopes or plans for 2013. Sort myself out once and for all?

Oh, and one more for me. I'm going to get fitter. I haven't gone any fatter than usual in 2012, but I have done so much academic work on computer last year that I feel terribly unfit. I'm goping to sort this out for myself. I have all the exercise machines at home, so it shouldn't be a problem. Yaaye!

Yep, and remember "You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough"
