BLOODY SKY.... AGAIN!!!

BLOODY SKY.... AGAIN!!!
Why is it that as corps get bigger and more 'megalomanicial' [sic] lol, it's directly proportional to how much disdain they treat their customers...
I watch Sky on my 4:3 portable in my bedroom via a video sender. I choose to watch it in "4:3L" mode, as selected in the Sky "Picture" menu - i.e. so an anamorphic 16:9 transmission is viewed in its full width, with 'letterboxing bars' top and bottom.
Turned telly on this morning...... Only to discover, in their infinite wisdom, that the ***** at Sky have changed the colour of these bars from the usual 'no video signal' black to their EPG corporate blue!!!
It's oh so anti-videophile!... It looks **** but moreover, is just plain bloody distracting!!!
I hate Sky.

Yeah, I've been a customer since around '92.
It's the fact that they have all but a monopoly on TV choice, so that's why I just can't bring myself to give up my not insubstantial £62.50 subs pcm!!!
They have me over that proverbial barrel...... And they know it!

Charley, can you check to see if your digibox's 4:3L mode outputs the blue bars - just to put my mind at rest?
I've checked all the menus to see if there's an option to change back to black, but to no avail.

I don't suppose you can temp hook up a TV via scart to see if it does it for you, too?
Sorry about being annoying! lol

I'm moving house in a few weeks and I'm going to leave sky behind I think. Never watch it anyway but always feel I've needed to have it. Will leave my subscription running for a month just in case but the house I'm moving to has the BIGGEST aerial I've ever seen so might go freeview route as every tv has it built in anyway.

Still annoys me they charge a £10 sub for HD. And I keep saying I will stop paying £10 for ESPN. If it was only premiership footy I would but I also watch UFC live and TUF series which was up for contract renewal and I was hoping it was gonna go somewhere other than ESPN but alas it did not.
After Xmas time to ring up and say I dont want x,y, z and see what discounts they offer me. That is the game they like to play.

Lol , i always hear people doing that , but i get scared incase i say "just cancel the whole lot u robbin gits" and they say . . . . . ."ok sir".
I kicked off at them once , had no internet for a month when i moved house. After the usual passing the buck i had to "sign up" again and i did all the running around (between BT , SKY, previous homeowners solicitor as they wouldnt give me their contact number) my blood was boiling and all i got was my internet bill refunded for that month (that i didnt even have internet for) not exactly compensation

...I have more to lose than they do - ergo, I haven't got the bottle to try.
But that Martin Lewis site says, don't let your pride get in the way if the conversation doesn't go the way you want -- just 'get out' of it by simply saying, "Okay, I'll go away and think about it.", and hang up.
Then you can throw things around the room at your leisure

Well I can't find much to complain about with the Sky presentation, nothing to go overboard about anyway.
I think Sky is good value all round and I think the choice of programmes is excellent to cover everyone's likely requirements. I find the F1 coverage is first class, the HD is good quality and I like seeing overseas sport live too.
