Most people with an IQ of more than 2 would understand the meaning of the message.

And at least the English is correct

What about this

One night a man had a dream.
He dreamed he was walking along
the beach with the Lord.

Across the dark sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene, he noticed
two sets of footprints in the sand,
one beloning to him and the other to the Lord.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him,
he looked back at the footprints in the sand.
He noticed that many times along the path of his life
there was only one set of footprints.
He also noticed that it happened at the
very lowest and saddest times in his life.
This bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it.

"Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you,
you'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life there is
only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why when I needed you most
you would leave me."

The Lord replied "My precious, precious child,
I love you and would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffereing,
when you see only one set of footprints in the sand,
it was then that I carried you.

Very significant, the church are claiming an imaginary person is alive and in doing so, sound completely moronic. As a society, we are moving past adult fairy tales.

I thought the post was quite clear in that regard.

As someone who believes I totally agree that the stuff above is completely barmy & idiotic.

I belong to a church that is not traditional but very contemporary, one that is very relevant rather than irrelevant & much like going to a gig with an average age of 30ish rather than 80ish.

There are many churches out there that would be considered 'new generation' churches that are so different from people's general perception of church.

Well worth a look! One may just be pleasantly surprised!

Seriously. You believe?

I have no problem if you do, let me make that very, very clear. If it makes you happy, then it makes me happy.

But if other people do not believe, and want to have a laugh, in return, let them get on with it.

Live and let live I say.

You say the things that have been posted are barmy and idiotic right. So I'm perfectly within my rights to say that your belief is, say, needy and stupid?

I've seen first hand what man can do in the name of religion for the past few years and it isn't pretty. Belief systems like this cause a lot of hurt. But I also understand that they also give a lot of comfort.

Do you not accept that everyone is entitled to his own beliefs and should not have to put up with others berating him for that?

Everyone can believe what ever they like, i believe in vampires and unicorns. I have no proof they exist, but that is just because the vamps are f-king with us and the unicorns are shy.

Seriously I believe!

My belief is not attached to happiness, this is a false notion. Happiness is connected to one's emotional state at any given time, belief has given me meaning, purpose & personal fulfillment though.

I agree if people don't believe & want to have a laugh that this is not an issue because if a person really believes what they say they believe then whatever the response of others it will have little or no effect on them.

Yes you are within your rights to express your thoughts & opinions on the beliefs of other individuals whatever those beliefs are.

I do not believe in religion (man made rules to control & contain one's spiritual development & journey) but I do believe in following a way of life mapped out by Jesus.

I appreciate your post by the way.

One or two people have read Dawkins and as a result have little or no understanding of what it is to be a Christian. They struggle to distinguish between God concepts, spirituality and a belief in the philosophy and teachings of Jesus Christ and how those things can be rationally divorced from literalism and childish appeals to wish thinking. You seem to be cool about that, I think said people should fùck off and think a little deeper.

I agree that the most people do not possess a true understanding of Jesus & Christianity & the Church has only itself to blame for not representing them well.

Dawkins like any human being is not the final word or the be all and end all of knowledge, insight, perception, intellect, rationale & understanding. He gives his views based on his limited beliefs, convictions or understanding but by no means is the final authority on God, spirituality, philosophy etc.

Belief cannot & will not be subject to empirical evidence ie. verifiable or provable by means of observation or experiment, that is exactly why faith is necessary.

Do you think those that read and allude to Dawkins or any other individual perhaps ought to also read wider & deeper?
