Do mains USB chargers work for EVERYTHING?

All depends on the Wattage, I can charge my iPad using the iPhone charger but it's only 5W so goes very slow compared to the 10w iPad.
But I use the iPhone charge the RC helicopters and android based phones and it does the job ok.
I wouldn't charge the camera on it though.

Most generic usb chargers wont charge apple devices, as the two centre pins req a 5ohm resistor or something daft as a design feature to get you to buy pukka apple usb chargers.
As i found out after trying several usb plug top chargers before guessing something was afoot!

Think the iPhone charger is rated at one amp. Wattage is a bit irrelevent as its all fixed at 5 volts and its the current draw that is the critical variable (anyhoo, 1amp @ 5 volts = 5 watts)
But the genuine iPhone chargers as well as replicas have been reported to go up in smoke.
Maximum USB current does vary upon standard (USB 1, USB 2 USB 3 etc), I know USB 1.0 is supposed to be 500mA per port, but seeing multiple ports often share the same power supply its quite feasible to pull up to 2 amps from a single port (so long as nothing is connected to the other three ports)
