Default Kindle: any free books?

If so, where are they? And are they legal downloads?
TIA.

Then there's the Gutenberg: http://www.gutenberg.org/

Best to check the free books on amazon every few days, as they do change - some books have a promotional period where they are free.

Got my Kindle over a year ago, read it every day on the bus to work and back, and bought the grand total of two books in that time
