I've never really fancied waiting all weekend for 1 fish. Saying that the two double figured carp I have ever caught were amazing. But I normally throw a feeder rod out for the carp while float fishing.
Not been fishing since my sciatica as the physio guy thinks sitting on my but for 8hrs will ruin my back

Where do you fish?
Haven't been for years even though Monk Lakes is 2 minutes from my door. Frant Lakes used to be my regular haunt. Also the gravel pits at Larkfield were good but it's all changed over there now.
What's changed in bait in the last 10 years, used to be all boilies is it still the same?

I fished Larkfield 18 years ago when at college before all the development over there, had a stunning 4lb tench from it on light tackle and never forgotten that fish. If I get back into it (all my gear is in the shed but it's the wife who put pay to it lol) i'll go back to Frants as had my best fish there and night fishing in Summer is excellent. Fished Monk lakes once and never went back, far too open for me and didn't catch a thing all day. Never done syndicate but always peered over fences to see how the other half live The syndicate lake over at Barden lake in Tonbridge has always looked good to me.

There was Chubb down at East Peckham when I fished the locks there and so wouldn't mind betting Barbel aren't too far away.
Oh and the reference to 'babel fish' it's an online translator as he doesn't understand any of what you are talking about

I can't wait for my boy to be old enough to go fishing. I loved it when I was younger. We've got a little stream next to our house which 99% of people wouldn't think anything lives in, it's loaded with decent size chub, roach and there's even some trout in there.
Never been much of a carp fisherman, we did have some good size mirrors in our ponds at my mum and dad's old house but floating crust was the order of the day. My uncle runs people down to France for carp fishing.

I love barbel fishing on the Swale. Freelined lumps of luncheon meat or worms. Same for my carp fishing when I lived in Hampshire.
Never used boilies and stuff - meat, worms, maggots and bread. And I caught loads of carp amongst all the tenters!

Remember night fishing on Southampton common for carp... bloody cold, and the lake froze over as we had all our gear out...
Still managed to get some good double figure stuff

I used to go carping, was a member of notts anglers a few years ago, and used to fish some lakes near me, never caught much on them but some bloody big fish came out of them.
Best day i ever had was at a place near tamworth, can't remember the name, but pulled half a dozen out in about 4hrs the lad that was with me was gutted and got nowt, i even got one when i was not paying attention and bringing my gear in, started chatting to my mate next thing i know tug on the line and away we go
More into sea fishing now as i like being able to stick em on the barbi after the hunt, nothing like fresh mackrell and pollock.
I have a couple of local lakes here in croatia that are supposed to have a few whoppers in, i intend to fish one of them this year, so we'll see how that goes.
