Default Recommend a good Acoustic Guitar?

Hello,

Anyone here who knows their acoustic guitars? I want to learn how to play and want a half decent guitar (for not too much money) that I can keep for a while.

Cheers.

Takamine G-Series should fit the bill. It was what I had recommended to me when I asked a similar question a decade or so ago and it's still with me. SiPiE and others are probably better placed to advise, but I hth.

The Little Martin is pretty good. Not full size so good for carrying around, but fantastic sound. http://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/acoust...07080316084428

Ed Sheeran plays one on the acoustic version of A Team - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xADSSBs34is.

Thumbs up

Lock jnr looked around for ages before going for Yamaha. Now has a 6 and a 12-string. About £450 IIRC. Nice mellow sound which you can hear on "Ocean" at http://jameslockmusic.com/

It depends on what you class as not too much money really, a rough idea of your budget would get you more accurate advice mate.

Cheaper end of the market would be Honer,Encore, Crafter, etc...
Middle of the road tanglewood, Epiphone, Yamaha
Nice but pricey depending on model, Fender, Gibson, Taylor, Gretsch

Might be worth thinking about electro acoustic too, There are plenty to choose from as stated above depends on budget as the ones above range from about £75 to £2k

I got a Crafter 11 years ago, that still plays well (cost around £200 back then).

I started playing and bought myself a Tanglewood at around £200 in old money. I knew nothing about guitars and came highly recommended.

Many years later it still plays as well as many of the guitars that I have bought since
(baby Martin, crafter, Yamaha, ibanez).

What makes it incredible that it still plays so well is the fact that this has been my 'camping' guitar. I've fallen asleep on it next to a campfire and woke up with it covered in dew. It hadnt warped at all! I've even used it as a bat to play rounders with after too many campfire beers.

Still has a lovely tone for a £200 guitar after nearly 20 years and only truly outshone by my Stonebridge which was around £1400, so to be expected !

For a guitar that you can grow with over the next few years, Tanglewood all the way at that price
