Buddleia growing out from under my house?
One has rooted in the gap between paving slabs and house wall. At the moment it's about 150mm high.
I would imagine it's roots are in the earth under the slab.
I have easily enough space to train it up the house wall, and quite fancy the idea.
BUT: is it going to damage the house/foundations?

Don't know but with age the root and trunk become significant. I wouldn't if it were my house
There are far more suitable plant to train up walls

Can't advise you but the advice about checking it carefully is certainly wise.
At least the butterflies will look good in the summer.

If you've ever tried digging one out, you'll know it's not a good idea to have one up against the house.

Make sure you cut them back hard every year, otherwise they go all spindly like the ones on railway embankments.

Buddleia grows very very fast and gets out of control quickly.
Even if you cut it right down it will keep coming back.

I would have thought painting/spraying all the leaves with a good weedkiller would see it off fairly quickly...

Buddleia grows like hell, burn it, poison it but it still comes back!!! It can grow through anything including concrete, google it and try and get rid ASAP. I think it's known as Japanese knotweed too but I can't remember!

Drill a small hole into the main stems. Inject neat glyphosate ( Round up) into holes. Its a better method than spraying the foliage.

We have just killed off our Japanese Knotweed by injecting the stems with RoundUp, we used the "woody" version.
Maybe that will work for the Buddleia.
