Default 1996 Standard MR2 Turbo - £8595! Really?

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1337125.htm

Even for its condition, it seem way over priced, or am I wrong?

Totally overpriced. Also, reading the description it isnt as mint as suggested. Interior has been smoked in and smells of ****, various dents / scratches around the car.

Mind you, its imported / supplied by a very dear importer. Nice, but totally over priced.

New Era always seem to ask really high prices for the cars. I've seen them ask £6K or so for a V4 STI Wagon. The cars look great but then again pics can be very flattering.

There seems to be a lot of this at the moment, blind optimism about prices, look on Autotrader and Ebay and there are a lot of overpriced cars, the way to tell actual sale prices is to do a completed items search on Ebay and see what auctioned cars went for, was looking at Chrysler Crossfires (until I realised they aren't much cop) and they sell for three an a bit grand but there are similar cars up for six/seven grand.

This MR2 is perhaps three grand, four at a pinch, they generally go for £1000 to £2500 or so, and a lot sit there for months, narrow market really as those who want them cant insure them and most that can afford the insurance don't want an ancient Jap sportscar, though they do seem to be getting a bit more of a reputation for being competent, if a little eager to throw you into the hedge if you get cocky,

I have a pearlescent white MR2 Turbo that has only done 43k miles. Only two known to be factory made in pearl white. Based on that advert mine is worth £50m

p.s. It is rev1 with lift off overstear, providing you know how to drive it properly it is actually mega fun.

I had two mr2 turbos my first when I was 21 insurance wasn't too bad to be honest mine were both rev 3 and I paid just over 3k for my last one which ran 320bhp. They are brilliant cars for what they are and are very capable if tuned/driven correctly

Always a good looker, the last one looked like a surprised frog and the first one a steam iron (in white anyway), the 2nd gen MR2 looked like a proper mid engined sportscar, big enough for a bloke and not girly, on my list for the new year.
