Default Accident at Work!

4 weeks ago i had an accident at work, was quite a nasty accident and put me in hospital for 5 days, and 2 weeks off work.
This was a reportable accident under health and safety and Riddor.
It was reported by my manager to the people that it had to be reported to.

Now this morning i have had no less than 6 telephone calls advising me that i'm entitled to compensation!

I have no intention of seeking compo at this stage anyway, but how the ruddy hell do these people get my contact details and the info about the accident

Surely everything that was reported should be confidential, and surely someone somewhere must be breaking the data protection act.
Anyone have any idea's or knowledge of accident reporting.

I'm not really after compensation for the accident, but i would like to shaft someone for leaking my details

cheers all

tell them not to contact you again and to remove your info. may have to tell several of them but they will stop. Legal they have to remove your info if requested to.

I have been mate, started off fairly polite for me, then by the end of the day after the last call, i just said " what accident **** off" but have just had a test off a different company now, saying i'm entitled to compo for my accident and please phone the number to go ahead.

I'm not going to claim for the accident, but really do fancy claiming off someone for a breach under the data protection act.

Just don't know where to start.

Think i'm going to wait till the new year, then seek some legal advice.

They have my personal details, my address and my phone number, and that in my book is simply not cricket

As Tx says your employers insurance company has sold on the details to mitigate their losses......very underhand but currently not illegal.

Car insurance companies do the same thing................

Certain that it won't be the hospital - most likely the insurance broker/company.
If accident not your fault - you might like to consider claiming.
My father had a nasty work accident 50 years ago - he was fine after but now has problems that are a direct result. He has had these problems for more than 30 years and suffers daily!
Cheers

I get at least 2 phone calls a week from companies saying about the accident i recently had, thing is ive never had an accident and its just companies that have my number and try it on and once you acknowledge any of their communications it seems thats the flood gates open and they just keep ringing.
My usual activity for that is to put the phone down and every few second go ah ha or make some acknowledgement noises and see how long they carry on before hanging up.
Also the companies that phone up about past miss sold personal protection claims my usual one is "ive never had a loan or CREDIT card out due to the fact im a millionaire and have no need for credit terms" the reaction varies but shuts them up lol

I wasnt going to claim against my employer as they were more than helpful while i was off.
they paid me in full while i was off , and they moved me from nhs into a private hospital until i was fit enough to come home.
I am just so wound up with the phone calls and texts, and really pi$$ed about someone somewhere giving my details out.
pretty sure if i had given out someone elses details i would have been in the $hit.

Made an appointment with a really good solicitor i have used before for the 4th jan, so take it from there.
cheers fellas.
May you all have a great christmas and a prosperous new year.

Complete Bollocks.....

So your company really looked after you - and because you've been getting unsolicited 'no claim no fee' type calls you're now going to see a "really good solicitor" and make a claim.... after having "no intentions" yesterday, to seeking compensation today....

There are companies who will randomly try their luck and call asking about an accident you have recently had, even if you haven't, just on the off chance of getting some business.

However, because you have actually had an accident then your details will have gone through various places/companies and any one of them could pass on/sell your details.

As already mentioned, its not illegal.

In the grand scheme of things and at the end of the day, what does it really matter? You get some annoying phone calls for a bit and tell them the **** off/remove your details.

Forget it and move on/dont waste your time

Merry Christmas!!!
