Life on another planet outside our Solar System? Only a matter of time, 600 light years to find out!

Fascinating.
What's more interesting is that if there was life on the planet and if we could observe it from this range, we'd be looking at their state of development 600 years ago. In other words, if they were advanced and looking at us they would see us pimping around 1200AC style!

Regarding the religious element - we could ask God if there is life on Kepler 22B, he would know of course

Unless they've (I'm a believer ) employed the same technique as us, of course.

What worries me is the idea of a higher form of intelligent life treating us the way we treat other animals. They might want to put us in sheds like cows and eat us. Which would be sh*t.

If there was life in this planet and at a similar stage to us - could we see them and vice versa?
Is it likely that we may find life on another planet but have no means of actually getting there? Sort of waving through the telescope at each other?

With currently available propulsion methods, there isn't a hope in hell we could go and visit any ET civilization, if and when we detected one.
