The up to 30 foot basking sharks we see off the coast in the South West are pretty impressive, especially when you are in an 18 foot boat!

Luckily they only eat plankton though.

What's more deadly a great white or a woman with a rifle.

I like the way her *** cheeks wobbled when firing.

Cant fish properly unless you stand up, but as long as the freeboard is high enough...no problem.

Sure. Whilst actually fishing.

But... WHEN the shark has been sighted, then I'd move away from the side and sit down pronto! Fishing would be the last thing on my mind from that point on....

atlantic great whites are rarely seen now as they are deep see most of the time unlike the films great whites dont attack boats but do bump them to find out what it is.ive spent meny years learning about this preadator so one day i could go diving with them (there is a guy in s.africa dives without a cage) enjoy the fact that some one posted a vid of such a beautie

I've been down in a cage off Gansbaai in South Africa with these things. They are so certain that you will see one that they will give you your money back if you don't.

Staggering things - I know things look circa 25% bigger underwater but they look like the size of trucks (with frightening teeth at one end). The cross section of the body from the dorsal fin area was deeper than the length of the cage I was floating in - it rubbed up against the cage and had skin like sandpaper.

The water is very clean down there but full of plankton so you can't see very far - say 15 m - so to be scanning all around while kacking your self and to then see one of these things loom silently out of the gloop at you teeth first is terrifying. The guy in south africa who swims with them without a cage is an idiot, believe me :eeek:
