Smile Alex Salmond on The One Show

I don't agree with a lot of his policies, but he's presenting a pretty convincing case for cutting the Jockanese loose

He also comes across as a more sincere than any of the three party leaders we're saddled with

I don't get that he thinks an Independent Scotland will be better off financially.
Don't they survive because of the massive subsides given by the UK government?

Oh yeah very sincere.... the man who let a convicted bomber go free for a reason yet to be fully disclosed. He's just another lying, cheating politician or politician as I call them!

He may come across as a genuine bloke, but at the end of the day he's a politician and will tell lies and bend truths like the rest of them.

This is comming from a Scot as well.

The main reason would be the north sea oil rights and the tax and revenue that Scotland looses as it all goes to the UK pot rather than the Scottish one.

They can keep the revenue provided they show that only people in Scotland paid for the infrastructure.

I think they should erect a 20ft wall just south of Glasgow and Edinburgh keep the English out hahaha just kidding.

It's a load of rubbish all this wanting to become independent total waste of time and money it would be impossible to implement.

I really don't know what to make of him. He's determined, that's for sure.

So that makes him either a very clever and calculating person, or Scotland's biggest fail in the making.

er, no. You want that wall to be a bit north of Glasgow. I guess Edinburgh could be useful for something.....

I would normally agree but I have family in Glasgow so until I fall out with them they need to be on the right side

Why exactly did Scotland join the union anyway? it was not because we could break them down. It was because the corrupt in charge raped their own people bankrupted the Country and had to go begging bowl in hand to the English.

They have oil and relatively, not a lot of people to share the wealth among. Plus a low(er) average wage than - for example - the SE of England.

Interesting geography too, for any renewable energy initiatives.

Scotland is absolutely buggered if we end up with full independence.

...and I'm Scottish (and the idea appeals....the reality however....)

Scotland would get most of the oil, but England would get almost all of the north sea gas fields - at least according to the normal UN definitions of who owns what bits of the sea.

Exactly. In theory there are a million things we could do differently when independent which, in my opinion, would improve the current state of affairs. But what we actually end up with is another story, and it doesn't look good!

Salmond is very good at what he does... unfortunately for Scotland. I can see him springing a vote on the public just when they're pissed off with this economic environment; distancing himself and his party from what's going on in London by putting the blame for everything solely down to the madness of the city, he'll offer an alternative and people will no doubt vote for it if they're feeling pain.

As I always say regarding politicians ,follow the money.

The truth will be evident if Scotland get independence & whether or not Salmond ends up on the board of any of the oil companies.

im scottish,

he does the best job of pretending to be honest.

at least he comes across as mildy interested in what people want.
but independance would be p8sh for scotland, cant see how anyone could think otherwise?

but still admire his effort in trying to sound interested, the likes of prescott from previous goverments, and most of the known and unknown mps just flaunt how un-interested they actually are.

bin them ALL, and replace with a totally new system/set up
independance would be sh
