Iphone 4 Mobile Phone Repair
I currently have an Iphone 4 which I've had for 10 months now on contract all above board. Previous I owned a Iphone 3g for 20 months .
Anyway I noticed a couple of the months ago the home button become unresponsive, sometimes it works fine other times it works after a few presses sometimes you have to switch the phone on and off to get a response. The phone has developed a fault and Ive updated the software from ios4 to ios5 and still get the same problems. Anyhow I finally got fed up with it ,so I decided to ring the company I brought it from explained the fault and they said send it back.
Phone was sent back they received it and after a couple of days ago I get a letter that says " The engineers have found a fault , they are happy to repair the phone for £142"
My phones are kept in pristine condition in cases with screen covers I don't jailbreak or have water damage just normal phone usage and they want £142 , bit of an insult for a phone that isn't even a year old. Anyone else had a similar experience , I have no intentions of paying £142 for " normal phone usage ", you have to be kidding me.

Mate just take it back to the apple shop. Thats what I did and they replaced it there and then. Had another problem with the phone a few weeks later and I took it back and they sorted it. I didn't buy the phone from them I bought it from the network
Due to it being in warranty there wasn't an issue.

Why did you send it back to the company you've brought it from?
Apple Warranty is great and lasts a year - although at times they are very good and replace even beyond this period! You should ask for your phone back, make an appointment at your local Apple Shop (Genius Bar) and pop in and see them.
They'll do a check for the water damage indicators (there's 3 I believe in the iPhone 4) and in this case I reckon they'll replace it.
Went in the other day with a phone that was 120 odd days over it's warranty period. The Apple rep still replaced the battery and it worked!! Didn't cost a penny!!
Worst case scenario (and probably not in your case as you're within the 12months) is they charge you £119 for a replacement unit - this is the standard fee.
Hope this helps mate - I'm sure the full-time Apple experts will be on with some more words of wisdom !

my ipad was liquid damaged due to daughter spilling a small amount of munch bunch on dock connector, APPLE refused to repair it as the indicator had gone Blue.
I ended up claiming on house and fixing it with a 3rd part 120 quid works fine now.
I didnt try the store, i should have but after apple refused repair and returned it me still broke, i went my own route.

Update to this story.
i spoke to my provider on the 22/11 and they said on the phone call it had liquid damage.
I took my phone to Apple Store today 26/11 who did a restore on the phone using a Mac and the home button seems to be fine so they couldn't replace the phone.
However it was tempermental previously so if it stops working in the coming days ill be back in the store . More importantly the girl in the apple store did a test and said the outside indicators are not showing any liquid damage so she doubts the inside will.
Thanks for the Apple Store recommendation guys . The moral of the story is if you have a Iphone still in the warranty period take it to an apple store.
Insert " NoName " mobile company tried to rip me off from £142.
