Love the Connery, Moore Bond films but these days they just seem to be a few hours of special effects.

Not so much the DC Bond films - Casino Royale had virtually no CGI / special effects, think the makers made a deliberate effort to avoid it along with gadgets.
Know what you mean though - the last Brosnan ones were just overloaded with CGI and pants.
I loved the fact that everyone said DC would be a rubbish Bond and then had to eat their words when he turned out to be probably the best Bond interpretation ever.

My top 3 are deffo Daniel Craig, Timothy Dalton, Connery.

Brosnan was crap. He always look flustered and out of his depth in fight scenes.
Craig rocks as Bond and I think the edge that he gives the Bond character makes up for the lack of gadgets.

Can't wait for Batman 3 though!

Agreed.Almost a straightforward film

It was almost quite 'dark' with Bond as a fairly nasty piece of work

Which is how i think Fleming was meant to have portrayed him

As long as they stop overdoing the endless explosions and silly special effects it will be a great film. The old bonds were always the best. The gadgets were great, especially when they were sort of almost actually believably true. For example, the Aston Martin that ended up on the frozen lake, and cut a circle out of the ice around the chasing police cars. That sort of stuff is cool.

Thought the Craig ones have been a bit 'Bourne' like

I like those films
