Default Max-Min thermometer with MERCURY in it?

Where can I buy one? I've had the mercury-free ones, they are cr@p.

Correct, not in the UK at least. You occasionally see vintage ones on Ebay but that's pretty much your only legal option these days. I hate ethanol thermometers too.

If you want to find a thermometer with mercury in it then just listen out for the ones singing "Don't stop me now"

Try the stalls on the markets, surprising what you can find.

Yup, the Eeeeeee-*******-yewwww have banned the sensible, practical, constructive and no sensible alternative use of mercury (see EU to ban traditional barometers) and yet they FORCE us to install Mercury Death Tubes (AKA CFLs) in every single room of our homes in order to save a few penguins (or is that polar bears?)!!!

Meanwhile our very own, paid for out of YOUR taxes, Environment Agency are doing every thing that they can to enforced these "rules"... see partway down.
