Amazing 'crash landing' footage in Warsaw today
Not often you get such clear footage of a crash landing of such a large passenger plane... Amazing stuff, and so controlled... No undercarriage down from what I can see.

Amazing job indeed. Dont think we see the inital touchdown, but looks very controlled indeed. Not every day a pilot does that.

Sweet landing - Brace Brace Brace..... - bet they were sh1tting it.
I read somewhere recently that some Stewardess Bint somewhere reckoned that the reason that airlines told you to 'brace' with your head down against the seat in front of you was so that your neck snapped on impact so you didnt sue the airline for crashing some people will believe anything

Don't know much about the procedure for gear up landings, would the pilot be able to use reverse thrust or just pray that friction slows them. I also thought they would lay a carpet of foam on the runway if a plane was coming in that way?

You certainly have to have a certain mentality to be a pilot.Sure they wouldn't have behaved like I would shouting "f***,f***,f**** and darn it"
Nice one Mr Pilot
Wife just said they are trained to do that on water or something? Is that right?

oh i have no doubt he had no choice. flying round for an hour trying to get the landing gear down then making the decision to dump the fuel then having the swingers and cool head to land a plane like that. it ain't no cessna that's for damn sure.

Incredible bit of skill. I heard that the runway had been covered in flame retardant foam but doesn't that then make it as slippery as a bar of soap when trying to slow down? If that is correct then it is even more of a remarkable piece of skill to keep it that straight/level whilst skidding on a giant bar of soap

the foam will be FFFP, no doubt, its made to do its best to bind, and form a blamket , and is measured in its ability to resist breakdown from feul and other contaminants. its made from animal proteins, and is nothing like regular foam you get from soap, washing up liquid ect.
im surprised they laid a blanket down, its a lot of foam, and lots would be needed if it lights up. but i wouwldnt worry about it being "slippy" and the speed and the weight of the aircraft, concrete becomes slippy lol.
really impressed with the pilot skill, and watching the AFS in action.
Everyone must have been sh*tting themselves big time. ive seen people evacuate an aircraft, even with no signs of fire or smoke and as you can imagine, its absolute pandemonium

In actual fact, it is not as difficult to do as one might think.
He controlled it well enough up to touch down by the looks of it. After that there is little one can do except keep it going straight down the runway with the rudder and be ready to stop any sign of one of the wings lifting if there was any crosswind.

And yesterday there was footage of an Iranian pilot landing a 727 with only the main gear - nose gear wouldn't come down.
Can't find a link at the mo

thats about as good as he could hope for tbh - well done pilot, did someone say he been suspended?
pilot mustve done pre flight checks and obv cant take off with no landing gear on nose? was a fault with it reported or something?
