Anyone watch the 'Trip Advisor' documentary last night?
Surprised there not been a thread about this already...
Watched the Trip Advisor documentary last night - sweet jesus there are some right feaks out there in Internet Land.... :P
Had to feel sorry for some of the Hotel owners, these social misfits would visit then truly pan an establishment on Trip Advisor.
The one (who can only be described as a 'Little Hitler') said he considered it was his JOB to go round all these places to write petty nitpicking reviews....
He should have been a traffic warden he was so ****.
My wife was shouting at the TV in various places

Watched it and totally agree. The gay couple and the guy with his grandmother should have been shot
Owners of the old forge (or whatever it was called) could do with a reality check too
As you said though, some freaks out there !

I didn't see it but I do often refer to Trip Advisor when booking a hotel or some such. I does make booking a holiday a nightmare as a few negative reviews sets the mind racing.
Pretty much got it figured though as to which ones are nit picking over some really stupid issues or expecting 5* service in a 2* establishment and then panning it as a result. The reviews on places like Travelodge moaning about it being a bit basic or the fact you get no toiletries always makes me laugh.
Problem with the Internet is it also presents a skewed view of the world. If someone has an issue with a hotel, product, or whatever else it's easy to go and complain about it on the 'net. However how often do you buy something or return from a really nice holiday thinking to yourself I really must go and write a glowing review of that? Exactly, folk only generally put pen to paper (or electrons into the 'net) if they've got something to complain about.

"I ordered a vodka and lemonade and the barmaid brought a vodka and tonic. Yes she corrected the error immediately, but its my duty to report it on Tripadvisor."

More adverse - I recently went to a restaurant in Manchester - five stars - top rated...
...and it was rubbish.
I went back and it was my own fault. It had been opened two months and all the amazing reviews were from people who a) lived in Manchester and b) only had one review!!!!
They should make it like IMDB - your review only starts to count once you have made a minimum of ten contributions.

OMG this is so funny!
Those idiots who owned the Old Forge are priceless. They get a bad review and their response it that, oooh we've been in business for 15 years and worked bloody hard. There are plenty of places that have been around for years and are completely sh*t.
And this one looks sh*t.
I can't stand service providers with this attitude.
Equally a lot of the reviewers were pretty bad too!
