Depends what device and what you are wanting from apps really.
Have a search thru Appworld, download and experiment.

I'm a big fan of BB for enterprise level email. But for apps.....quite frankly they suck.
Even if they work without any messing about, your battery will be dead in double time, and your data usage will increase. One thing you can be assured of is they will dissapoint.
3 that are ok, and come as standard on most new handsets are:
Facebook
Twitter
Google maps

As for battery life and data usage, I hammer my phone and dont go much over 300mb of data, and unless using GPS based apps there is little difference on battery life.

It's not good and I have nearly 1000 devices to think about.
I don't particularly care for increased data roaming in country, it's when they roam and don't have the correct data plans.....then they 'offer feedback'.

I like the BB's raised qwerty keyboard..... for texting mainly, I also used the 'mobile telephone app' quite alot, you pop in someones number, press the handset icon and quicker than a mussie thread being banned on scoobynet you're connected and actually talking to someone.... a-mazing

Old school tech. It won't be long - 5 years perhaps - before voice modems are taken off Smartphones, no doubt the manufacturers know this and are scaling back already. I hardly use mine now and every day more and more calls are IP based.
