The remote is cumbersome, especially when compared to the V+ or Sky+ ones.

You can't pause a programme being watched on catch-up for more than 1 minute because it switches off, then you have to restart the showing and find where you were up to.

And it takes an age to change channel.

On the plus side, at least it doesn't crash three times a week like our last two Sky+ boxs did

sky, great at telly, crap at broadband

Been like it for 10 years, you'd think people would be used to it by now.

Edit your series link options and set it to record 'New Episodes Only' and then it won't record re-runs etc.

I have to agree with the issue about the remote, there have been several times where I have almost thrown it at the wall!

The rest of your problems seems to be down to your settings, so I would have a play about. I'm quite pleased with the pause function. It certainly pauses a LOT longer than a minute.

The actual speed of the box isn't up to v+ standard, buy it's doing a he'll of a lot more than v+ so I wouldn't expect the speed to be on par.

The apps certainly keep me entertained... Simons cat episodes back to back on YouTube for the children is great too

Well, it was their being crap at broadband that has inevitably made them crap at tv also.

I bloody would... it's no faster than the series 1 Tivo I bought ten years ago, and that's pathetic.

Virgin's Tivo will be a great product when they finish it. There's an update due soon, but although it has lots of new features in it, bug fixes and performance improvements are conspicuously absent (from the official announcement at least...)

Tivo is a whole new platform for them, so it's not really a case of fixing anything.

Unfortunately what they've done is take the US Tivo - quite a highly developed and capable platform - and 'Virgin-ised' it with an ugly, branded UI and nobbled some of the interesting features.

It's still a good product, just not half as good as it could and should have been.

It's not new stuff I want, it's old stuff on the lesser channels, the trouble is the first showings are generally in the daytime, and edited to suit, whereas the late showings are as originally broadcast.

It doesn't matter which showing you actually select, tivo defaults to the first

The pause issue seems to only occur when watching on catch-up, with normal TV and stuff I've recorded it stays paused.

Can't understand why it happens either, if I watch the same stuff via the PC I can leave it paused as long as I like
