Thank God for IVF
What a heart warming story.

What I don't get is the need for IVF - surely at least one of these two was fertile?
Are we supposed to read between the lines and assume that none of their circle of acquaintances could perform the honours?
Perhaps there are some on here who could have helped out and saved the Australian health system a few bob?

Is it the gay bit, or the IVF bit that stirs you so much?

And their plea for privacy.
You are quite correct to say this has happened before. A derivative of it pretty much "supports" the Welfare state in this country.

To be fair, it is possible that either
a) they may have had it done privately (good old labour double standards) or
b) they are pretending it was done with IVF (to imply their chaste reputation?)
Out of interest, I wonder if the scientists who came up with the technology considered how this technology might be used.
In view of the obviously unnatural methodology used to mimic a natural occurrence, I would have to assume that they did make such a consideration.

Science often goes faster than thinking about ALL of it's repercussions. There have been lots of chages in this field.
Another I can think of is, the use of a dead mans sperm.
Really a non story though, good luck to them. I have a feeling there children will not be rioting in the future.

a) I would think they did, so really not an issue.

Think of Marlon Brando's line in The Wild One-
Mildred: What're you rebelling against, Johnny?
Johnny: Whaddya got?
