St George wasn't English, nor did he ever set foot in England.

Not offically St Georges Day. Due to 23rd falling between ' the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ' which is the Church of Englands day of 'mourning' the Church have had the calendar jigged so St Georges Day falls on the 2nd May this year!!
Only found out by accident last night looking at something online. Shows how much we make of the day, that no-one knows its offically been moved this year
