Best Digital Camera
Looking for a new Digital Camera for under £200. We will be mainly using it for holidays, pictures of the new baby on the way and some close up face shots
We are looking to spend about £200 can someone recommend me a good one.
I did have a quick look and got a bit lost.

I have a Panasonic Lumix (TZ5, a few years old now) and it's excellent, loads of features but really easy to use. I have a SLR camera too but it's so bulky to carry around I use the Lumix far more.

Lumix TZ10 or the later one. Great camera with HD movies and GPS. Only drawback is the zoom is a bit slow in movie mode.
Also, before anyone saiz.....should've posted in photography...

Work has a Canon, Dad has a Canon and Sis has a Canon. All are very good so i got one. I went for an Ixus 90 as it fits nicely in the pocket. I paid £140 for it so i suspect with an extra £60 you will get sommat very good.
One thing i would recommend is to buy a camera which uses the flat batterys like in a mobile phone (only bigger). I don't know what you call them (battery pack maybe?) but i get hundreds of pics between charges

Splash out on a Canon G10. Great piece of kit, oldish now so plenty of secondhand and cheapies on ebay as up to the G12.
Otherwise, can't go wrong with the TZ10.

Bought a Fuji Finepix from Jessops last week. £99. Pretty good with 10 x optical zoom. Quite easy to use which suits me but don't forget the extras you will need like a 4 mb memory card (minimum), case and possibly a card reader which is easier to use than the Fuji software. Good size screen but a lot of reflection when taking piccies in bright light. Cos' I'm old I like a viewfinder but this hasn't got one but I don't think many have these days? I insisted on a camera with a decent rechargeable battery, not an AA eater. Like most cameas these days it is designed for Japanese dwarfs with tiny fingers

Another shout for Panasonic Lumix TZ10
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Panasonic-Lu...3387083&sr=8-2
There are higher models now (TZ20 for example) but that is out of your price range.
I have an EOS450D and about £1500 worth of lenses but I often just grab the TZ10 for quick shooting, the results are amazing.

Missus has TZ10 and it's excellent. I also have Canon DSLR 450D, again excellent camera but sometimes it just so much simpler to use the comapct.

I bought a Pentax Optio W90 last year. I certainly recommend this model if you want it for holidays. You can take it anywhere. Its dust proof, waterproof, shockproof, cold proof, etc.
If you want it to be able to do close up shots, this has a digital microscope, how close would you like?

i have just bought a Canon Ixus 115 from Amazon, arrived today
I lost the previous version on a skiing holiday a few years ago, we were struggling along with a Kodak one, which was not a patch on the Canon. Noticably worse pics and video

I'm after a compact in the same price range. I have narrowed it down to either a Canon or a Panasonic Lumix. The TZ8 and the TZ10 are fairly similair. The TZ10 is more expensive, but has GPS. Depends if you want it.
I'm tempted by the TZ8. Can anyone give an opinion on the HD video.
Canon Ixus range are also nice, there's just so many of them.

I've got a 6 year old Casio (Z30 ) and it's great. I just want a simple point and shoot for days out. It's only 3.2M pixel but that's fine for 7x5" photo's or even larger. I'd go for a Casio Exlim again for sure.
