Its a bit dim at the moment
prhaps the bulb has blown

No, it was vey pale, almost a dull brown colour as it crawled above the horizon last night, yet the night before, it was brilliant white..
Not sure if any lunar activity was occurring last night

Because of the long period of high atmospheric pressure, the atmosphere has become very stable which means that all the pollution etc. is not getting stirred up and settles in a more dense layer than usual. That is why we are getting pretty misty mornings and poor visibilty.
That is why the moon looks a bit dim compared to usual.
