Default OMG - this is scary!!!

OMG, I am a little freaked out.

I just called my local takeout, a place I have walked into a few times in recent months, but nothing special. Nobody knows me by name, and they never "greet me" in person.

So, when I called to place my order....and they already knew my address!!! like WTF!! How can they know my address from my mobile phone number?

I asked the lady who took my order, but she just said the "computer" told her. Well, I've never told their computer where I live, NEVER. I don't mind that it makes the ordering process more efficent, but how in the heck can they associate my mobile phone number with my address when I am calling a random takeout place. In fact, I don't think I have ever called them in the past

Just because you're paranoid, it doesn't mean they're not out to get you.

lmao

Humour aside, just how did they manage to do that? It is a pretty damn impressive system they have. So many times you try to order and if you have an awkward address (like mine), you spend the next 5 mins spelling everything to them. I am amazed that they managed to associate my number with them!!!

Yes, this happened to 'us' one night. I was at a pals house and he used another mates mobile to order. The food was cold by the time the owner of the mobile got the food, the next day when he returned home.

Not a fool proof system then! But how do they know your address from your mobile phone number? Someone must be selling them the details, but whom?

My mate uses a lot of **** sites that in turn sign up to the 'Takeaway Food - Address Register'.

Thats not it for me. I only sign up to online shopping sites, cannot think of any of those that I have given my mobile number to.

They must have had your records on file already. Perhaps a previous pi$$ed up order.
The ability to locate a mobile phone and/or identify the owners details is normally the domain of certain government agencies, not your local take-away.

I like you style, but there are none in memory

However, given the nature of the acusation, the fact that I have no memory of it is hardly a defence

Pah! our Indian take-away asked us if we'd enjoyed our holiday when we phoned up one weekend as we'd not ordered anything the week before

Sounds to me like they are MI5 agents masquerading as a take-away and the fact they let you know they knew your address is a gentle warning to you. I think you are being watched
